Activism isn’t just something we do, it’s who we are. Everything we do is rooted in love and compassion, for the animals and for each other. BAAL would be nothing without community, from the emo scene kids with the straight edge morals, the hippies, the queers and everyone in between is the reason we exist. Community keeps us alive and thriving!
Real change doesn’t happen alone, and if you want to go far, you must go together. Fostering a prosperous community is important to us, which is why we organize social gatherings to bring people closer, build solidarity, and create a support system where activists can heal, grow, strategize, and socialize.
Sometimes we keep it simple like grabbing dinner after a protest, but we also organize straight edge parties, hangouts, beach days, and solidarity actions. We even hit up the occasional comedy club to get a few laughs in while supporting our favorite vegan comedian. If you are in San Diego County or elsewhere in Southern California, we'd love for you to join us!
Building community and friendship is essential for our ability to stay in the fight, because activism is not easy. Sometimes the noise gets loud, the screams from these innocent animals echoing in our heads gets to us, but with the support from a strong community, we stand united, able to fight harder for what we believe in.
Our members commit to practicing the values we fight for every day. Our lives are a rebellion against systems that profit from suffering and exploitation. We don’t just talk about justice, we live it.
We aren’t interested in playing by the system’s rules. We rip the mask off cruelty. We show up for the voiceless. We fight like hell for animal liberation.
Be the change. Live the change. Join us.
